5Awesome phone for an OLD Blackberry convert!

By Carol Baloglu

I am a heavy user w/ 60% work related and 40% personal. I also travel internationally. I have been using BB Rim for 7 years, my last one was 8830 World Edition for 2 years. I was one of 1st folks to get this unit as soon as it went on pre-sale. I have been using and testing the features I need under my regular business and personal useage. This phone has every thing I need : SIM card slot + International CDMA/GSM capability + WiFi, hotspot + 3G + Camera + doc scanner/barcode reader + ability to use SIP soft phones, such as google voice, skype, gizmo5 etc to make/receive calls over WiFi or 3G w/o using cell minutes (very handy internationally) + Great Voice Recognition + Google's Satellite "Navigation" app... Seamless integration w/ gmail, google apps, goggle, facebook, LinkedIn contacts and the list goes on. In one word, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC phone. Congrats Motorola. Sorry Blackberry I am converted :)

Cons: * Battery needs to be charged nightly * if u select a 3rd party soft keyboard (vlingo softkey etc) other than the native keyboard as the selected input method, they don't seem to pop up when expected. So stick to the default android soft keyboard. * Turning off Haptic feedback in settings, does not make any difference

UPDATE: my main peeve with this phone was short battery life... Last week I got the new motorola extended battery for "droid pro" and now it is perfect 5 stars all the way.

5Finally an excuse to move away from your BlackBerry

By Erik Gfesser

Great phone. After having used this phone for a week, I must say that buying this new phone to replace my BlackBerry 8830 World Edition was the right move to make. Since one of my colleagues acquired the first Android phone (the T-Mobile G1) a couple years ago, and seeing Android operating system adoption move to a host of phones since that time, I have been waiting for an Android phone with a front-facing physical keyboard like my BlackBerry smart phone. In my opinion, the Droid Pro is a triple-threat, providing the Android operating system with a front-facing physical keyboard in a small enough package that provides one-handed operation for the person on-the-go. In addition, the Droid Pro is a true world phone. The only qualm I have about this device is that the keyboard keys are placed slightly too close together. When placing my old BlackBerry next to the Droid Pro, the length of the keyboards between the two appear to be about the same, but the width of the Droid Pro keyboard is slightly narrower. As with any phone, the potential buyer should try out a phone in person before purchasing, but with this phone I especially recommend doing so solely because of the keyboard. Although this phone has a smaller screen size relative to other Android phones currently on the market, the multiple screens can be accessed by flicking side-to-side, so I do not miss the trackball on my old BlackBerry. Prior to moving to the Droid Pro with Verizon, I had considered moving to the HTC Evo 4G while still with Sprint, but because reviews of that phone consistently complained about short battery life, and the 4G network is immature at this point, I held out. And I am glad that I did.

5Great Phone and Great Price!

By D. Yu

I just received this phone from Amazon and it is perfect! It was my first smartphone and I was stuck between a Blackberry or a Droid. This is the best of both worlds! Fast processor, lots of apps, great interface (has both Android and Motoblur), and great features. The only downside is battery life (which lasts only one day) but if you know how to change your settings, you can maximize your battery life. Besides, expect a short battery life when switching to a smartphone!

Also, it only cost me 50 bucks on Amazon while it's 180 dollars on Verizon! Who can beat a price cut like that?!?! Amazon also has free returns within 30 days if you don't open it while Verizon charges a restocking fee. Everyone should be getting phones from Amazon!
