5Bye-bye Blackberry!

By KarenW

I just "upgraded" from a Blackberry Bold 9000. I was planning to purchase the Torch but it just isn't in my budget right now. I tried various Droids and the Iphone, but couldn't make the switch to touch screen texting. Once you've used a Blackberry for texting, there is almost no going back. Anyway, I saw this phone on the AT&T website and watched some reviews online at Cnet and youtube, then went into my local AT&T retail store for some hands on time. That was all it took. This little phone is a gem. Maybe it doesn't have the latest and greatest Droid technology available, but if you own a Blackberry, you know the web experience leaves you wanting. Half the time nothing opens. The Flipout has a wonderfully responsive touch screen, speedy web browsing, intuitive design, and it is a fantastic size! Call quality is great, better than my Blackberry actually, at least from my end. Best of all, the keyboard is, in my opinion, nicer than the Blackberry keyboard. Now, you must realize I have been a Blackberry groupie, so I don't say this lightly. The keyboard is a little different and so take some getting used to, but I think you will be quite pleased with the texting experience. No tracker ball--I've always love my tracker ball! You won't miss it. The darn things get stuck anyway. The only drawback I see so far is that I might have to upgrade my data plan since I can actually surf the internet now. The Blackberry handicapped me enough that I rarely went online except to check my bank account and occasional searches on Google. It's a great phone. I predict we are going to see more like this one for those of us who don't want to carry around a phone the size of a small notebook. This is a little larger than the old fashioned "Chunky" bar...if anyone remembers that!

3Disappointed

By J. A. Adkins

Well, I didn't even have the phone for a day and it's going back.

Little things I found annoying...

1. I had to keep pushing a small button on the side of the phone in order to get the screen to come on, and the phone is fairly small, and I have small hands.

2. The camera stinks. I wanted to use it for barcode scanner and a weight watchers app, but all the UPC's were so blurry it would never scan anything.

3. Tried buying apps from Android Market (Powered by Google), not realizing that you can't get anything off the website, because of a serious error you get, saying that no Android device is registered. I had to get the apps directly logged in through the phone.

4. If you have this phone through AT&T, you will not be able to buy an app through Amazon's Appstore for Android at this point in time.

5. I also wanted to get a game app that had a specific game in it, but it required version 2.2 and up, and this has 2.1, and apparently is not going to be updated beyond that.

I got this because a lot of other people left good reviews, but they didn't mention anything about the stuff I mentioned...it's not a bad phone if you don't care about the camera or being able to easily get apps.

5AMAZINGLY DURABLE!!!!!

By Jennifer Waters

I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!! It's good if you have small hands like me. Great full keyboard. I have dropped this phone so many times it should have been smashed a half a year ago but every time I drop it I turn it on and it is still working! I have had this phone for a year now and it is still working good as new! Plus it has the full android market at your fingertips! Great social networking phone!
